Deforestation Overview
Deforestation, or the removal of trees in forests,
is a major problem around the world. --- Deforestation began around 305 million years ago with the Carboniferous Rainforest Collapse. During this time, rainforests collapsed from early climate change, causing many plant and animals species to become extinct in the process. Over the course of many different time periods, forests have collapsed for many different reasons. Sometimes they have collapsed due to climate change, and in other cases, humans have caused forests to fall as agriculture and building began to grow. --- Today, the lands cleared of forests are commonly used for agricultural use. In these processes, many people, animals and land are harmed or affected. Scientists are becoming concerned on what the future holds for forests. Begin to take action now with some common solutions you can even begin in your own homes! |
